How GadgetRank works

Free, independent comparison across three categories. Here is exactly how each one works.

🏷️

Selling your phone

When you sell your phone through GadgetRank, we show you what every major UK recycler is willing to pay — side by side, ranked by price. Prices for the same phone can vary by £50 or more between recyclers, so comparing before you commit is the single most effective way to maximise what you get.

01

Find your device

Search or browse by brand. We list 96+ devices including iPhones, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, Apple Watch, PS5, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.

02

Select condition

Choose Excellent, Good or Faulty. Be accurate — recyclers inspect every device and will revise their offer if condition does not match.

03

Compare quotes

Every recycler ranked by highest payout. Sort by price or Trustpilot rating. The best offer is always shown first.

04

Get paid

Click through to your chosen recycler, confirm your quote and post your device free. Most recyclers pay within 1-3 working days.

Before you send: Sign out of iCloud or your Google account, factory reset your device, and remove your SIM card. A phone that is still account-locked will be returned without payment.

Buying a refurbished phone

Every phone listed in the buy section is certified refurbished — professionally tested, graded and backed by a minimum 12-month warranty. We compare prices by grade and storage size so you can find the best deal for the condition that suits your budget.

01

Choose your phone

Browse 72+ refurbished phones across Apple, Samsung and Google. Filter by brand to find your model.

02

Select a grade

Grade A is near-new, Grade B has light wear, Grade C has visible wear. All grades include battery health of 80% or above.

03

Compare prices

See prices from trusted UK retailers ranked by lowest price. Click through to the retailer to complete your purchase.

04

Buy with confidence

Every listed retailer includes at least a 12-month warranty and a returns policy. You have at least 14 days to return under UK consumer law.

Check before you buy: Confirm the device is unlocked, iCloud or Google account is cleared, and the battery health guarantee is stated. Read our condition guide for more detail on grades.

Travel SIM deals

After Brexit, UK travellers pay roaming charges when using their phone in Europe and beyond. A travel SIM sidesteps this — you use a different SIM while abroad and keep your UK number available via voicemail or a simultaneous eSIM.

01

Choose SIM or eSIM

An eSIM activates digitally in minutes and works alongside your UK SIM. A physical SIM replaces your card while abroad. Both work in 195+ countries.

02

Select your plan

Voice and data, data only, or a UK number that works internationally. Choose based on whether you need to receive calls on a UK number.

03

Activate before you go

eSIM plans activate via QR code in minutes. Physical SIMs are posted to you — order a few days before travel to be safe.

04

Travel without charges

Turn off roaming on your UK SIM and use your travel SIM for calls, texts and data. No bill shock when you return.

How GadgetRank makes money

GadgetRank is free to use. We earn a small affiliate commission when you click through to a retailer or recycler and complete a transaction. This is paid by the retailer — it never affects the price you pay or the amount you receive for your device.

We are not affiliated with any single recycler or retailer. Our comparison rankings are based on price and value — not commission rates. The highest-paying recycler always appears first.

All affiliate tracking is handled via the AWIN network. We comply fully with the ASA guidelines on affiliate disclosure.
